Galatians: Freedom Through Christ - Restoration

Scripture to Read: Galatians 6:1-5

It is a sacred gift to walk as the body of Christ. I know so often we lose sight of the gift God has given to us in each other. Our culture tells us to live individually, be self-sufficient, and do things on our own. But Paul here reminds us that the body is to live with one another, calling out sin and restoring our vertical relationship. And in so doing, we are to bear each other's burdens, restoring our horizontal relationships. This leads us not to compare our sins, helping us restore our internal relationship. The Spirit's goal is restoration virtually, horizontally, and internally. This is a beautiful gift of freedom! We need each other to do this! Paul doesn't just remind us of this; other theologians of the past do as well.

"I heard someone say, 'I don't need church. I study the Bible for myself.' That is proof that you don't actually study the Bible for yourself." - J.C. Ryle

"Self-sufficiency is Satan's net where he catches men like poor, silly fish and destroys them." - Charles Spurgeon

The greatest danger in ministry is not failure, but success without God." - Sinclair Ferguson

Galatians: Freedom Through Christ - Do Good

Scripture to Read: Galatians 6:6-10

Paul has been helping believers for years see what it means to walk in step with the Spirit. And as we walk in the Spirit, we walk with each other, which means we have to live differently. He calls us into "sharing in all good things" together.

We cannot just live our faith on Sundays. We must share in all good things together. So Paul helps us to see what it looks like to sow good things in order to reap a harvest of Christ.

The disciplines of sowing are not just obligations but the very joy of seeing God move in our lives, producing the harvest of eternal life! Freedom is found in Christ!
